Job summary

Broward County Tax Collector’s Office, based in Fort Lauderdale, seeks a Client Service Representative in Processing Operations. The role handles tax and motor vehicle payments, document processing, and data entry in a non-exempt, full-time capacity.

You will report to the Client Services Supervisor (Processing Operations) and ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing across multiple systems. A valid Florida driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

  • 60 college level credit hours required
  • 1 year of clerical, data entry, admin, financial processing, or records management experience
  • Experience in governmental, tax, or motor vehicle processing environment preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Process tax and motor vehicle payments, documents, and correspondence updates
  • Review, audit, and process applications and supporting documents for accuracy and compliance
  • Process incoming mail, electronic transactions, and system-generated work queues
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records in internal/state systems
  • Balance daily transactions and reconcile operational reports
  • Research and resolve processing discrepancies and exceptions
  • Maintain electronic and physical records per retention rules
  • Communicate with internal departments, external agencies, vendors, and customers to resolve issues

POSITION PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

As a Client Service Specialist in the Processing Operations department, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Processing tax and motor vehicle payments, documents, and correspondence updates and associated functions.
  • Reviews, audits, and processes applications and supporting documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Processes incoming mail, electronic transactions, and system-generated work queues.
  • Performs data entry and maintains accurate records in internal and state systems.
  • Balances daily transactions and reconciles operational reports.
  • Researches and resolves processing discrepancies and exceptions.
  • Maintains electronic and physical records in accordance with retention requirements.
  • Communicates, as necessary, with internal departments, external agencies, vendors, and customers to resolve transaction issues and support processing.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, policies, and internal controls.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 60 college level credit hours
  • One (1) year of experience in clerical, data entry, administrative support, financial processing, payment processing, or records management.
  • Experience in a governmental, tax, or motor vehicle processing environment preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.

In accordance with Florida Statute 322, selected applicant must possess a valid Class E or higher driver's license; not learner's license and be at least 21 years of age. Selected applicants must have no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations of the driving privilege for a minimum of three (3) years prior to employment and must also maintain a driving record with no more than three (3) chargeable motor vehicle crash or any violation defined in Chapter 316, Florida Statutes during any consecutive (3) year period of employment.

Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Driver Licenses Examiners must meet the background standards outlined in Florida Statute 435.04, and Federal Regulations 384.228 and 1572.103. This includes, but is not limited to, not having any criminal convictions for alcohol or drug-related offenses within 10 years prior to employment and maintaining this throughout employment
