Job summary

Ohnward Bancshares, Inc. is seeking a client service associate in Maquoketa, IA. The role includes opening/closing client deposits, updating account information, handling calls and walk-ins, and generating sales leads.

You will cross-sell bank products, respond to routine requests, and maintain confidentiality while building trusted client relationships. Prior experience and strong communication are valued.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Opening and closing of client deposit, safe box, debit card accounts.
• Maintenance of account information and forms and any necessary reporting.
• Manage a large volume of calls, answer inquiries, walk-ins.
• Generates sales leads and makes referrals to other bank services.
• Cross-sells bank products by informing clients of new services and promotions.
• Build sustainable relationships and trust with client accounts through open communication.
• Assist with routine requests: fund transfers, AFTs, stop payments, inquiries about deposits and service charges.
• Reconcile statements with general ledger; perform account and other reconciliations.
• Record business transactions to the general ledger and prepare payments for signature.
• Maintain client confidence and protect bank operations by keeping information confidential.
• Go the extra mile to build trust, loyalty, and satisfaction.
• Manage risk and detect fraudulent transactions to prevent losses.
• Resolve clients’ issues and provide relevant information.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing product and/or services information; resolving any emerging problems that our client accounts might face with accuracy and efficiency. This position obtains and relays client feedback. This position plays a fundamental role in achieving our client satisfaction and revenue growth objectives.

KEY ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

• Reports to supervisor or Officer.
• Works closely with clients and other departments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Opening and closing of client deposit, safe box, debit card accounts.
• Maintenance of account information and forms and any necessary reporting.
• Manage a large volume of calls, answer inquiries, walk-ins.
• Generates sales leads.
• Make referrals to other bank services.
• Cross-sells bank products by answering inquires; informing clients of new services and product promotions; ascertaining clients’ needs; directing clients to a branch representative.
• Build sustainable relationships and trust with client accounts through open and interactive communication.
• Assist clients with routine-related requests such as: fund transfers, automatic funds transfers (AFTs), stop payments, inquiries about bank deposit products and service charges. Inquiries about ATM and debit card usage and limits. Inquiries about checking and savings accounts transactions, and available funds, check verification requests by third parties.
• Reconciles bank statements by comparing statements with general ledger. Performs all necessary account, bank and other reconciliations.
• Research, track and resolve accounting problems.
• Issue checks for accounts payable and prepare payments for signature.
• Record business transactions and key daily worksheets to the general ledger system.
• Prepare a range of general clerical, accounting and bookkeeping support functions.
• Record charges and refunds.
• Maintain client confidence and protects bank operations by keeping information confidential.
• Go the "extra mile" to build trust relationships, client loyalty and satisfaction.
• Manage risk in every transaction and detect fraudulent transactions to prevent losses.
• Resolve clients’ issues and provide relevant information.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Provides exceptional customer service by responding to requests for service and assistance and identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner. Good people skills.
• Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness. Attention to details.
• General math skills, basic PC knowledge and familiarity with electronic equipment, provide solutions based on client needs, financial skills and documentation skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
• 1-2 years’ experience preferred.
