Job description

Northern California | Hybrid Leadership Role

An established engineering and environmental consulting practice is seeking a senior leader to guide and grow a highly successful municipal water and wastewater business across Northern California.

This is a unique opportunity to inherit a mature, revenue-generating portfolio with deep client relationships built over decades. The right individual will step into a visible leadership role, serving as a trusted advisor to municipal clients while helping shape the next chapter of growth for an already respected regional practice.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

Unlike many leadership roles that require building a client base from the ground up, this position offers the opportunity to take stewardship of an existing portfolio generating more than $10 million in annual revenue.

You will inherit long-standing client relationships, lead strategic growth efforts throughout the Bay Area, and become one of the most visible voices representing the firm's water and wastewater practice in Northern California. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the intersection of client leadership, business development, strategy, and project execution.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to municipal water and wastewater clients throughout Northern California.
  • Lead client engagement and account growth strategies across an established portfolio.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships that have been cultivated over multiple decades.
  • Drive business development efforts and identify opportunities for strategic expansion.
  • Lead major pursuits, proposals, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with technical and operations leaders to deliver exceptional client outcomes.
  • Mentor project managers and emerging leaders within the practice.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and professional organizations.
  • Help define the long-term market strategy for the region.
What We're Looking For
  • 15+ years of experience in water, wastewater, environmental, or municipal infrastructure consulting.
  • Demonstrated success managing key client relationships.
  • Experience developing and winning consulting opportunities with public-sector clients.
  • Strong understanding of the Northern California municipal market.
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing project teams and client portfolios.
  • Ability to balance business development, client management, and project delivery responsibilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • PE license preferred.
