First Merchants Bank is seeking a Customer Relationship Representative (Universal Banker) - Reserve to join our team! This full-time position focuses on providing high-quality customer service by accurately and efficiently completing bank transactions and suggesting products and services that meet the current and future financial needs of customers. We support you to exceed personal sales and service goals while delivering a meaningful customer experience.

As part of this role, you will:

  • Respond to customer requests for banking transactions.
  • Answer customer inquiries and problems with solutions that meet their current needs.
  • Build customer loyalty and advocates.
  • Contribute to overall banking center operation by:
  • Balancing cash, daily transactions, vault, and ATM.
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance, regulations, and reporting.
  • Following information security policies and verification procedures to protect customer privacy.
  • Assist with opening and/or closing the banking center.
  • Participate in a high-performing sales environment by:
  • Selling bank products, making customer referrals, and supporting goals.
  • Knowing all bank products.
  • Participating in meetings and coaching sessions.
  • Lead and serve as an example by:
  • Training, coaching, and guiding staff in operational and sales skills.
  • Attending and completing necessary training.
  • Leading sales and service activities at the banking center.
  • Ensuring policies and procedures are followed during operations.

To succeed in this position, we require:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 6 months of experience selling products or services.
  • At least 1 year of sales, banking, or related experience.
  • Extensive travel within the assigned region, with the ability to travel daily to banking centers.
  • S.A.F.E. Act Registration through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) within 3 months of hire.
  • Ability to obtain Notary Public designation.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior banking experience.
  • Ability to sell and cross-sell bank products and services.
