About Us

Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 60 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long‑term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.

About the Role

THE COMPANY Tracing our roots to 1928, Wellington Management Company, LLP (WMC) is one of the world’s largest independent investment management firms. With over $1 trillion in assets under management, we serve as a trusted adviser to institutional clients and mutual fund sponsors in over 60 countries. Our innovative investment solutions are built on the strength of proprietary, independent research and span nearly all segments of the global capital markets, including equity, fixed income, multi-asset, and alternative strategies. As a private partnership whose sole business is investment management, our long‑term views and interests are aligned with those of our clients. We are committed to attracting a talented and diverse workforce, and to fostering an open, collaborative culture of inclusivity because we believe multiple perspectives lead to more informed investment and business decisions. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we welcome people with diverse life experiences, fresh ideas, and specialized subject matter expertise.

The Position

The Client Group is responsible for strengthening and growing our prospect, client, and consultant relationships around the world. Wellington Management serves an extremely diverse mix of institutional investors located in over 60 countries. Our clients include public funds, central banks, insurance entities, endowments, foundations, mutual fund sponsors, retirement plan sponsors — both defined benefit and defined contribution — and many other types of institutions. We view business development and relationship management as a point of differentiation among our peers. Our experienced professionals are typically specialized by client type and geography. In carrying out their respective functions, they will take into consideration local nuances and channel differences to ensure a thorough understanding of the unique needs of prospects and clients by being proactive, forward‑thinking, and effective communicators. The co‑op will join the Financial Reserves Management (FRM) team, which partners with insurance company clients and oversees approximately $190 billion in assets across more than 165 relationships. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in both client relationship management and business development within a leading global investment firm. The co‑op will support reporting and analytical projects, assist with prospect and client presentations, and contribute to initiatives that support the team’s growth objectives. They will attend client portfolio review meetings and collaborate with investment professionals to gain exposure to fixed income and private markets, portfolio positioning, and investment performance discussions. In addition, the co‑op will work closely with colleagues across Client Platform, Investment Products & Fund Strategies, Legal, Compliance, and Portfolio Management, building a broad understanding of how Wellington serves clients and brings custom investment solutions to market.

Responsibilities
  • Support in preparing presentation materials, briefing materials, research, and other collateral for client/prospect meetings
  • Collaborate regularly with the relationship team, product management, portfolio management, guideline, legal & compliance and operations teams across the firm on client and prospect deliverables
  • Work with senior leadership on strategic projects to streamline team initiatives, goals, and reporting
  • Willingness to pitch in during peak periods
  • Run with project work independently (i.e. analyze industry investment trends, develop client analysis, competitor analysis, fundraising target lists)
Qualifications
  • The Client Group AIG co‑op will work in a team environment with constant deadlines.
  • The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, excellent judgment, the ability to learn quickly and multi‑task.
  • The job entails written and analytical work.
  • Strong collaborative, time management, project management, and organizational skills.
  • A very strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to work on multiple assignments and complete high‑quality work against deadlines.
  • The position requires extensive use of internal and external systems and databases, and a high proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Salesforce experience is helpful but not required.
  • An interest in the markets and/or the investment management industry.
  • A personable nature with a positive, collegial attitude, and a high level of professionalism are essential.
  • A sense of humor is a must.
  • Note: This co‑op position entails cross‑training to ensure optimal performance across functions.
  • The anticipated start date for accepted candidates is December 2026/January 2027.
  • Candidates must have prior co‑op experience, as this position requires a foundational understanding of professional workplace dynamics and responsibilities.
  • Only Northeastern University students are eligible for this program.
