Job summary

Matter Family Office in the United States seeks a Senior Accountant to own day-to-day financial relationships for a portfolio of client families. You will review staff work, coordinate with outside professionals, and escalate complex matters to the Accounting Manager.

This role rewards accuracy, speed, and team leadership in a growing practice. You will mentor Staff Accountants, manage routine bookkeeping, and contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and client reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; CPA preferred.
• 4+ years of accounting experience, including QuickBooks Online and Bill.com.
• Proven bookkeeping mastery and ability to review and correct others' work.
• Knowledge of partnership accounting, book vs. tax, and estate-planning mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for an assigned group of client families and handle routine bill-pay and reporting requests.
• Review financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, net worth) and bookkeeping prepared by Staff Accountants before publication.
• Review and, where needed, execute accounts payable and payroll.
• Own budget-vs-actual analysis and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• Participate in Matter's monthly peer-review and internal-audit process.
• Coordinate with vendors, banks, accountants, attorneys, and financial advisors.
• Mentor and guide Staff Accountants.
• Prepare reports and follow-up items for client meetings.
