Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer in the Charleston, SC area. This client-facing role bridges clients and engineering teams to gather requirements, design technical solutions, and deliver software that solves business challenges.

Travel to customer sites is required as needed. We require 5+ years in software/data/ML engineering, strong Python and SQL skills, and experience with cloud-native architectures, APIs, data pipelines, and AI-enabled solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, ML Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or Forward Deployed Engineering.
• Demonstrated experience working directly with external customers to define technical requirements and deliver software solutions.
• Experience leading customer discovery sessions, technical workshops, architecture discussions, or implementation engagements.
• Strong software engineering skills using Python and SQL.
• Experience building cloud-native applications, APIs, data pipelines, or AI-enabled solutions.
• Familiarity with AI technologies (LLMs, RAG, AI agents) is highly desirable.
• Ability to communicate with executive leadership and technical teams.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Bridge between external stakeholders and engineering teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Lead discussions with executives, business leaders, and engineers; manage expectations and tradeoffs.
• Gather requirements from clients and design end-to-end software solutions that solve business problems.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure successful solution implementation.
• Engage in solution delivery and customer-facing engagements with a hands-on engineering approach.
