Description

The Client Advocate is responsible for cultivating and maintaining client relationships, including leading strategy development and execution. They own the E365 Service plan, engage expert resources, and lead pricing and profitability efforts. The CA arranges WTW resources to provide coordinated service and placement to meet the client’s insurance and risk management needs. A Client Advocate should be the top Relationship Management colleague for their accounts, with a strong connection to the client’s business and a fundamental understanding of its industry, viewing the relationship as a business partnership with client decision makers. They are ultimately responsible for client retention, profitability, and delivery of all outcomes for their assigned clients. The CA aims to maximize revenue from existing clients, including upselling and growing the account, and leads RFPs, oral presentations, and pitches. As a senior member, they also serve as:

  • A mentor to colleagues
  • A Subject Matter Expert for one or more lines of business
  • A Team Leader

This role offers a hybrid working opportunity, with some required office time and travel to client locations, based either out of Chicago or a West Coast location.

The Role
  • Retain and develop existing client relationships, serving as the primary client contact
  • Contribute to new business opportunities with both new and existing clients
  • Drive the RFP response process, including review, resource identification, and document ownership
  • Engage with sales and broking to understand marketplace changes
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the client’s industry, business, and objectives
  • Provide strategic planning and consulting advice, monitor insurance and risk management needs, and recommend solutions throughout the policy term
  • Lead the creation and delivery of the E365 Plan and Client Stewardship report
  • Identify and coordinate delivery of WTW internal resources to enhance the client experience
  • Lead and mentor account team members
  • Maximize profitability and client retention
  • Negotiate and deliver fee/compensation agreements
  • Advise on insurance program design and strategy, ensuring appropriate analytical tools are used
  • Design and deliver client presentations, proposals, advocacy reports, and service plans
  • Manage the renewal process, collaborating with internal teams to develop renewal strategies
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and policy requirements
  • Perform other duties to ensure an exceptional client experience
Qualifications

The Requirements

  • Targeted 5+ years of commercial Property & Casualty experience in a client-facing role or demonstrated capabilities to fulfill role responsibilities
  • Knowledge of coverage forms, program design, coverage gaps, and ongoing coverage consultation
  • Ability to interpret, analyze, and present analytical models
  • Relationship management skills to leverage relationships and resolve conflicts
  • Negotiation skills to develop solutions, drive consensus, and close deals
  • Business acumen regarding strategy, tactics, and solutions
  • Knowledge of the commercial insurance renewal process
  • Business development skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of handling complex technical discussions
  • Strong project management skills for large, complex projects
  • Ability to lead change, provide guidance, and collaborate effectively
  • Receptive to feedback, with critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and innovative thinking
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with online tools
  • Must obtain and maintain an insurance brokers P&C license and complete continuing education as needed
  • Industry designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM, CIC, CRIS, CRM) are preferred but not required
