  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
  • Knowledge of Medicare.
  • Knowledge of governmental legal and regulatory provisos related to collection activities.
  • Skill with computer applications and use of calculator.

Responsibilities

  • Check in patients, verifying demographic info and making necessary changes in computer.
  • Balance the cash and the receipts, with the encounters. Batch the encounters for data entry.
  • Run credit card batch at end of each day. Check credit card batch compared to TransFirst report. Post credit card payments.
  • Copy medical records as requested by insurance companies, patient transfers and for legal purposes. PCP approval required before mailing. Send billing fees per guidelines.
  • Assist in scheduling follow-up appointments as patient checks-out.
  • Record drug tests and prepare drug tests for shipment.

**Regular part time. Work 13 hours get paid for 26. Saturday 08:00 am – 5:00 pm; Sunday 08:00 – noon.GENERAL SUMMARYGreets, instructs, directs, and schedules patients and visitors. Serves as a liaison between patient and medical support staff. Provides staff support to the Physician in operating the practice computer system including the total medical billing functions.GIBSON AREA HOSPITAL& HEALTH SERVICES MISSION STATEMENTTo provide personalized, professional healthcare services to the residents of the Communities we serve.PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Check in patients, verifying demographic info and making necessary changes in computer.2. Balance the cash and the receipts, with the encounters. Batch the encounters for data entry.3. Send billing fees for these services according to our guidelines. Scan a copy of the request in the patient’s file. Document the transactions on the PHI Log in NextGen.5. Assist in scheduling follow-up appointments as patient checks-out.6. Record drug tests and prepare drug tests for shipment.7. Other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS1. Requires sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifts files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds.2. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts.5. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPReports to the Office Manager.EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED1.
