JOB OVERVIEW:
Under the general supervision of the Department Head or designee, performs routine clerical and administrative work in support of departmental operations. Responsibilities include providing customer service, maintaining records, processing documents, performing data entry, and assisting with a variety of administrative functions. Work requires attention to detail, professionalism, confidentiality, and regular interaction with employees, residents, vendors, and the public.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides clerical and administrative support to the assigned department.
• Assists the public in person, by telephone, and through electronic communications by responding to inquiries or directing individuals to the appropriate resources.
• Receives, processes, maintains, and files departmental records, forms, applications, correspondence, and other documents.
• Performs data entry and prepares routine correspondence, reports, and other departmental documents.
• Coordinates routine administrative activities with other municipal departments, agencies, vendors, and the public.
• Operates standard office equipment and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Working knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with the public.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn specialized tax software.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple assignments.
• Ability to maintain accurate records, exercise sound judgement, and maintain confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of clerical or administrative experience preferred.
• Municipal experience or experience in tax assessment, finance, or public administration preferred but not required.
