Job summary

Jefferson Health in Philadelphia is seeking a Clerk Financial Services in the SBO department to deliver an excellent customer experience by responding to inquiries, verifying coverage, collecting payments, and supporting the Financial Assistance processes.

The role emphasizes a one-touch resolution approach and requires a High School Diploma or GED plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience in healthcare business office or customer service/collections. Epic and Microsoft applications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interact with coworkers, visitors, and staff with Jefferson values.
• Identify patient needs, clarify information and review inquiry presented.
• Research and resolve patient/guarantor inquiries quickly to achieve one-touch resolution.
• Determine if escalation is required and triage accordingly.
• Resolve inquiries from external vendors and/or financial assistance partners.
• Review self-pay credit balances, validate refunds and initiate refunds.
• Set up payment plans and assist with patient estimates and pre-clearance for cosmetics/international patients.
• Maintain assigned system workqueues.

Job Description

The Clerk Financial Services in the SBO department is responsible for providing an excellent customer experience through efficient, timely and professional responses to inquiries, verification of coverage, collection of payments, follow-up to customer issues and support of the Financial Assistance process. Our goal is "one touch, one call, one email" resolution which requires knowledge of all aspects of Revenue Cycle.

Essential Functions

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Identify patient needs, clarify information and review inquiry presented.
• Research and resolve patient and / or guarantor inquiries in an expedited manner, striving for the “one touch” resolution with a high degree of quality and customer satisfaction.
• Determine if escalation is required and triage as appropriate and applicable.
• Resolve inquiries received from external early out vendors and/or financial assistance partner.
• Review all self-pay credit balance, validate patient refunds and initiate refund process.
• Set up payment plans in patient accounting system. Facilitate patient estimates and financial pre-clearance for cosmetic surgery and international patients.
• Maintain assigned system workqueues.
