Job summary

University of Michigan’s Michigan Medicine seeks a Nursing Clerical Service supervisor to plan, organize and manage clerical operations and staff. You will develop policies, oversee HR activities, staffing, payroll approvals and budget monitoring, including 24/7 coverage in a large department.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Health or Business Administration, strong leadership and communication skills, and a proven ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Job Summary

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health or Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experienced required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including proven capability to supervise a large number of employees and build a cohesive work team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a diverse group of people in a diplomatic and effective manner.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service.
  • A successfully candidate will have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently.

Previous experience creating and maintaining employee schedules.

Desired Qualifications*

Reasonable knowledge of University and Michigan Medicine policies and procedures.

Previous work experience in a Union environment preferred but not required.

Two to three years experience with OneStaff, MiChart, Microsoft Windows and Excel desired.

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes .

Work Schedule

This is a night shift position. Must be flexible with shift times. Rotating weekend/holiday work required.

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
