Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a part‑time Security Officer with an active DoD Secret clearance to protect a Durham, NC aerospace/defense location. You will patrol, monitor access points, document activities, and respond to incidents with professionalism.

You must have at least one year of security experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to pass a background check and drug screen. CPR is preferred and a valid driver's license may be required for driving roles.

Qualifications

• At least one year of security‑related experience.
• Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• Age 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background investigation will be conducted as per federal, state, and local laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements vary by state/local laws; driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations calmly and professionally, escalating concerns as needed.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, access points, and perimeter areas; report unusual activity.
• Monitor restricted area access, verify credentials, and document visitor, vehicle, and contractor activity.
• Complete detailed activity and incident reports and communicate information to leadership and site contacts.

What You’ll Do

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities at an aerospace and defense location.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, escalating concerns according to site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, access points, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity or conditions.
• Monitor access to restricted areas, verify credentials as required, and document visitor, vehicle, and contractor activity in accordance with site‑specific policies.
• Complete detailed activity reports, incident reports, and shift documentation, and communicate relevant information to Allied Universal leadership and site contacts.

Minimum Requirements

• Possess at least one year of security‑related experience.
• Possess an active DoD Secret clearance.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
