Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure is seeking a Data Center Operations Technician to lead hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting across 24/7 operations in the Ohio Plain City area. You will operate generators, UPS, HVAC and building automation, and support a team of technicians while adhering to safety and security policies.

You will participate in 12‑hour rotating shifts (days or nights) and respond to on‑call emergencies.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of electrical, mechanical, or data center/missions‑critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military, public safety).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current, active U.S. Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment and emergency generators within the data center.
• Troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events within internal SLAs.

Job Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. It supports all AWS data centers and all servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure customers have continuous access to the innovation they rely on. The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is Amazon’s front‑line responder for hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation, including generators, UPSs, PDUs, HVAC, motors, and building automation systems. The role provides 24/7 shift coverage, which may include 12‑hour shifts and rotating 3, 4, or 5‑day work weeks.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment and emergency generators within the data center.
• Troubleshoot facility and rack‑level events within internal SLAs.
• Perform limited maintenance tasks such as filter changes, HVAC preventive maintenance, rack power installs, rack PDU and ATS replacements.
• Provide support to Data Center Operations technicians.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of equipment failures.
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed while performing work.
• Work 12‑hour rotating shifts (3‑ and 4‑day work weeks, days or nights).
• Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds and log taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.).
• Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows and spare‑part inventory.
• Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance.
• Respond to off‑hour emergency calls per on‑call rotation for any of the region’s sites.
• Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
• Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities.
• Manipulate small wires and objects.

Essential Tasks / Physical Demands

• Walk job sites on uneven terrain.
• Work at heights and from ladders.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 39 pounds; participate in group lifts for 40 pounds or more.
• Bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working.
• Push or pull heavy objects into position.
• Work in noisy environments.

About the Team

The cleared LCK DCEO team provides operations and maintenance of critical AWS data center facility infrastructure for customers in the Intelligence Community. The team collaborates with software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to deliver the highest standards of safety and security while providing scalable capacity at low cost.

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ year of electrical, mechanical, or data center/missions‑critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military, public safety).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current, active U.S. Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
