Job summary

Azusa Solutions seeks a Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join a team of consultants in protecting client systems and data. The role focuses on design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of security controls, audits, and incident response processes across federal-style environments.

The successful candidate will have a Top Secret clearance, be local to DC/MD/VA, and possess strong skills in cloud, IAM, architecture reviews, and vulnerability management.

Qualifications

• Ability to write clear security and compliance documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong facilitation and stakeholder-management skills across engineers, ISSOs, and assessors.
• Ability to read and discuss architecture documentation and design diagrams.
• Basic understanding of Cloud, networking, identity and access management, security, and logging concepts as they relate to security controls.
• Familiarity with version control, CI/CD pipeline concepts, and vulnerability management workflows.

Responsibilities

Description

Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for the ongoing design, implementation, monitoring, and upkeep of security systems, networks, and data protection measures to ensure continuous resilience against evolving cyber threat.

Conduct regular security audits, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments to identify weaknesses and implement corrective measures. Monitor systems for anomalies, investigate incidents, and apply patches or configuration changes to close gaps. Develop and maintain incident response plans, ensuring business continuity during and after security breaches. Create, update, and enforce security policies, standards, and operating procedures aligned with industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to write clear security and compliance documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong facilitation and stakeholder-management skills across engineers, ISSOs, and assessors.
• Ability to read and discuss architecture documentation and design diagrams.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with tracking security findings from vulnerability scans through remediation.
• Hands-on experience with federal security compliance, including the ATO lifecycle and POA&M management.
• Experience with Scrum activities
