Job summary

7Seventy in New York City is seeking a heavy cleaner to maintain a large medical campus. You will perform heavy cleaning, floor care, snow and ice removal, and general building upkeep across assigned areas.

Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 4:00 pm to 12:30 am

Role snapshot

The heavy cleaner keeps a large medical campus clean, safe, and presentable. You handle heavy duty cleaning, floor care, snow and ice removal, and general building upkeep across assigned areas.

Key responsibilities

• Clean assigned buildings so they stay consistently neat and sanitary
• Move materials and furniture as needed for cleaning or events
• Report building problems such as power failures, leaks, and equipment damage
• Operate motorized floor equipment to strip and wax floors, stairwells, and corridors
• Sweep and mop entrance lobbies, stairwells, and elevator landings
• Polish marble, brass, and other high visibility surfaces
• Wash walls, blackboards, and other marked surfaces
• Clean mirrors, glass partitions, banisters, mailboxes, window sills, and baseboards
• Clean and restock all bathrooms and kitchens
• Spot clean and shampoo carpets as needed
• Sweep and hose down exterior sidewalks, steps, and courtyards
• Collect and dispose of trash and recycling, including cleaning compactor rooms
• Check and clear drains and help keep all building areas stocked and orderly
• Remove snow and ice and apply de-icer in assigned outdoor areas
• Receive and store drums, supplies, and equipment safely
• Safeguard janitorial materials and equipment and perform other duties as assigned

What you bring

• Physically fit for extensive walking, stair climbing, lifting at least 50 pounds, and overhead work
• Able to work all shifts as needed, including evenings and emergencies
• Ability to read and follow safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance procedures
• Reliable, detail focused, and safety conscious
• Frequent walking, climbing stairs, and standing for long periods
• Regular lifting, carrying, and moving items of 50 pounds or more
• Overhead work and use of ladders or similar equipment
• Indoor and outdoor work in all seasons, including snow and ice removal
