Job summary

Magnolia ISD is seeking a Classroom Aide to assist teachers with instructional materials, classroom management, and administrative tasks. The position requires a high school diploma and a Texas educational aide certificate or willingness to obtain it within 30 days, at the applicant's expense.

Some experience with children is preferred, and duties include supervision during lunch, bus, and recess. Reports to the Principal and assigned teachers, with a Clerical 1 pay grade.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate or willingness to obtain certificate within 30 days of employment.
• Applicant with fewer than 48 college hours must pass a paraprofessional assessment exam.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Ability to work well with children and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Conduct instructional exercises with individual students or small groups.
• Supervise students inside and outside the classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs and faculty meetings.
• Other duties assigned.
