Job summary

JPS Jackson High School is seeking a dedicated Teacher Assistant to join our full-time team. You will support classroom teachers in delivering high-quality education and help students succeed academically and socially in a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with lessons, providing one-on-one or small-group support, monitoring progress, preparing instructional materials, and assisting with IEPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Experience in educational settings is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, teachers, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support student learning.
• Ability to work collaboratively and follow directions from teachers.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus, background check as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers in planning and implementing daily lessons and activities.
• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as needed.
• Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and parents as necessary.
• Prepare instructional materials and resources to enhance classroom learning.
• Assist with classroom management to maintain a safe and respectful environment.
• Support integration of technology by helping students use educational software and tools.
• Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop IEPs for students with special needs.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom activities.
• Perform administrative tasks such as grading assignments and organizing classroom supplies.
