Job summary

Duncan Public Schools is seeking a Teacher Assistant - In-School Intervention Paraprofessional at Duncan Middle School for the 2026-27 school year. The role supports classroom instruction, assists with materials, and helps students develop language and behavior skills.

This 9-month position is 8 hours per day, with duties including supervision, collaboration with the classroom teacher, and participation in staff meetings. A High School Diploma or equivalent and passing state tests are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must have one of: 48 college credit hours, associate degree, OGET, PARAPRO Test, or NC Career Readiness Certificate.
• Must pass National Criminal History Record Check.
• Good oral & written command of English; Spanish may be required by assignment.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with the classroom teacher in implementing the instructional program.
• Assist in preparing for instruction by organizing materials and visual aids.
• Supervise activities and assist with testing and make-up work.
• Maintain records and assist with reporting as required.
• Provide supportive instruction to help students develop language and behavior.
