Job summary

Douglas County School System is seeking an instructional assistant to support In School Suspension students with academic instruction under the supervision of the teacher and principal. This 188-day paraprofessional role places you in Factory Shoals Middle School.

The position requires an associate degree or two years of college, or passing the GACE Parapro assessment, with Georgia paraprofessional certification. Strong classroom communication and instructional skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher from GaPSC-accredited institution.
• Two years of college coursework (60 semester hours) with a grade of C or higher.
• Passing score on the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment, with high school diploma or GED if eligible.
• Paraprofessionals must be eligible for a valid State of Georgia Paraprofessional certificate.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Works with ISS students on instructional activities.
• Participates in training and in-service opportunities.
• Maintains confidentiality of student/school information.
• Prepares materials for activities.
• Follows tasks through to completion.
• Records information accurately.
• Maintains and organizes work area.
• Enforces safety procedures with students.
