Job summary

Grand Rapids Public Schools — Paraprofessional (Instructional EL) is responsible for supporting teachers by providing additional time for planning and reinforcing concepts for scholars. The role involves working with students individually or in small groups and assisting with non-instructional tasks to enhance classroom learning.

Responsibilities include assisting with lesson introductions, supervising activities, supporting scholars outdoors, and maintaining a positive classroom climate.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two years of higher education (60 credits) or an associate degree or pass the paraprofessional assessment.
• Ability to relate well with scholars, parents, staff and community.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, reliable attendance and organization.

Responsibilities

• Support teacher by presenting lessons and preparing materials.
• Assist with loading/unloading buses and supervise recess.
• Maintain classroom climate and interact positively with scholars and staff.
• Perform duties outside daily and attend meetings and conferences as needed.
