Job summary

KEC Oakleigh in Grand Rapids, MI, is hiring an Instructional Support Specialist (Paraprofessional) to assist classroom teachers and implement IEPs under supervision of the principal. This 182-day position with 7.5 hours per day offers direct instructional support to students with varying needs.

Responsibilities include aiding in instructional activities, data collection in PowerSchool Special Education, and collaboration with related services staff.

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain CPR certificates and CPI training.
• Demonstrated dependability and promptness.
• Evidence of skills with behavior management.
• Ability to lift 40-60 lbs.
• Chauffeur license or willingness to obtain with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the classroom teachers.
• Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and monitor student progress.
• Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable participation in activities.
• Work with related services staff (speech, social workers, OT, PT, etc.).
• Assist in maintaining student records and data in PowerSchool Special Education.
• Support students with emotional or behavior concerns and help develop social skills.
• Supervise students in classroom and community settings.
• Perform duties as assigned to support instruction.
