Job summary

Washington Elementary School is seeking an Instructional Assistant - Paraprofessional to join the district immediately. The role provides materials and handouts, assists teachers, and supports students in group or individual activities.

Under supervision, the paraprofessional helps with lesson input, monitors safety on the playground and in the cafeteria, and communicates with parents about progress. CPR may be required; a high school diploma or equivalent is necessary.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) before hire.
60 college credit hours or an associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Paraprofessional test approved by the Arizona State (WESD offer at no cost).
CPR certification within 30 days of hire (where applicable).

Responsibilities

Assist teachers in planning and coordinating lessons; provide materials and handouts.
Work with students individually or in groups on reading, spelling, and math.
Monitor student behavior and enforce school policies.
Supervise students on playground and in cafeteria; ensure safety.
Prepare and photocopy educational materials; set up classrooms for activities.
Communicate with parents regarding progress, concerns, and improvements.
