Job summary

Washoe County School District seeks a Paraeducator Assistant I to support teachers with individual and group instruction. Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, presenting material, and assisting with student assessments.

The role requires HQ status, a high school diploma or equivalent with 48 semester hours or an associate's degree (or ParaPro score 460+). Position is grant-funded, 17 hours weekly, ending June 2027.

Qualifications

• Required: 48 semester hours of college credit or an associate's degree or higher, or passing ParaPro with 460+ ETS score.
• A high school diploma or equivalent plus related experience is acceptable as noted.
• One year of instructional activity or guidance within an organized program is described as qualifying experience.
• Two years as Paraeducator aide or related instructional assistance experience also qualifies.

Responsibilities

• Assist teaching staff in various classrooms and related areas.
• Help prepare lesson outlines, plans, and teaching aids.
• Present subject matter using multiple teaching methods.
• Assist students individually or in groups with assignments.
• Prepare and grade exams and homework.
• Observe student progress and confer with teachers and parents.
• Maintain classrooms and audiovisual equipment; order supplies.
