Job summary

KIPP Capital Region is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support lead teachers in elementary and middle schools in Albany and Troy, NY. The role focuses on aiding instruction, assessments, and student support.

Responsibilities include one-on-one tutoring, small group interventions, and helping with lesson planning while maintaining a safe, organized classroom environment and partnering with the SPED team as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid NYS Teaching Assistant Certification or willingness to pursue state certification preferred.
• Prior experience in schools and urban communities is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with instruction, assessments, grading, and classroom tasks.
• Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring daily; support with interventions and potential small-group teaching.
• Observe and support instructional techniques and classroom management.
• Provide administrative support (copies, materials organization, hallway duty).
• Assist Lead Teacher in planning and presenting lessons; help students learn.
