Job summary

The selected candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, an associate degree or 48 semester hours, and the ability to lift and manage materials. The position reports to the Principal and involves 187-school-day contract terms.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Associate’s Degree or 48 semester hours or WORKKEYS test completed.
• Adequate strength and dexterity to perform tasks including lifting, stooping, bending.
• Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships.
• Meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

• To understand and assist in upholding school rules, policies, and procedures.
• To participate in the efficient and effective operation of the school as directed by the principal.
• To respect the confidentiality of information pertaining to students and staff.
• To assist in fostering positive student attitudes toward citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism.
• Report for duty at least 15 minutes before the opening of school and stay after closing unless otherwise required.
• Plan regularly with the assigned teacher.
• Work with individuals and groups of students as assigned.
• Assist the teacher in student testing activities as assigned.
• Keep charts and records of students' performances and accomplishments.
• Assist teachers with basic physical needs of students.
• Take all necessary precautions to provide for safety and welfare of students.
• Attend and participate in individual, school, and system professional development activities.
• Maintain cooperative working relationship with school staff, parents, community.
• Promote good public relations for the school system with the general public.
• Maintain confidentiality of school-related business.
• Be familiar with and follow Board of Education policies.
• Assume other reasonable job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
