Job summary

Mesquite ISD is seeking a Paraprofessional - Campus/Instructional Assistant to support teachers by preparing materials, managing classroom activities, and supervising students throughout the day. The role involves working under the supervision of a certified teacher and assisting with administrative tasks as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, demonstrate strong communication with students and staff, and preferably some experience working with children.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to work well with children and communicate effectively.
• Some experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the teacher to set up classroom and prepare materials for specialized instructional units.
• Assemble materials for bulletin boards and keep displays current.
• Operate standard school equipment such as laminator and copier.
• Escort children to and from various rooms.
• Assist in small group pupil instruction and tutor students at teacher's request.
• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom (lunchroom, bus, playground).
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems concerning individual students.
• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
• Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
• Help maintain discipline and a neat, orderly classroom.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Record attendance information and related clerical functions with the teacher.
• Supervise students when the teacher is temporarily absent.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
