Job summary

Stratford Public Schools is seeking a Classroom Paraeducator to support instructional activities and student safety in a 32.5-hour weekly role. You will work under teachers and school administrators to assist with learning activities and classroom management.

The position is full-time for the school year, with compensation per Stratford Public Schools’ paraeducator contract and benefits. Experience with children in education or caregiving is desirable and inclusivity is emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Parapro Assessment or associate's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support classroom instruction by assisting students with learning activities and assignments.
• Provide assistance with toileting, feeding, and lifting as needed to support students' individual needs.
• Monitor and assist with students' safety and behavior during classroom activities, transitions, and breaks.
• Implement teacher-designed accommodations and modifications to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and school staff to support students' individualized education plans (IEPs) and goals.
• Maintain a respectful and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and participation.

Job Description:

The Classroom Paraeducator supports the educational, social, and physical needs of students under the direction of the classroom teacher and school administrators. This role includes assisting with instructional activities, providing one-on-one or small-group support, and ensuring students' safety and well-being in the classroom and school environment.

Schedule and Salary:

This is a full-time, school-year position. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Stratford Public Schools Paraeducator contract.
