Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Aide to support certified teachers in the classroom. You will work with small groups and individual students, reinforce lessons, and assist with instructional materials and routines.

The role involves clerical support, setup of instructional aids, and supervision during lunch and field trips, under supervision of teachers. A strong language and math base is required.

Qualifications

• Qualifies via degree/workKeys: bachelor’s or associate degree with WorkKeys or high school diploma with GED and passing scores on WorkKeys subject tests.
• Academic competency in reading and writing; strong math skills.
• Aptitude for the work to be performed.
• Board of Education may deem alternatives acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in classroom activities under a certified teacher's supervision.
• Work with small groups to reinforce and reteach material.
• Provide support for individual students needing extra attention.
• Guide independent study and enrichment work as directed.
• Assist with drill work, reading, and storytelling.
• Check notebooks, grade papers, supervise tests and make-up work.
• Help with clerical duties and classroom housekeeping.
• Prepare instructional aids and set up learning displays.
• Set up audiovisual equipment for classroom use.
• Assistance with non-instructional duties such as snack, breaks, toilet, and clothing routines.
• Supervise students during library trips under librarian supervision.
• Assist during lunch, assemblies, and field trips.
• Respect confidentiality of information per policy.
• Maintain professional standards expected of all staff.
• Participate in in-service activities and paraprofessional training as mandated.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
