Job summary

Devereux Day Academy Highland is seeking a Part-Time 1:1 Classroom Aide to support a student throughout the school day, ensuring safety, participation and individualized instruction. Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required with one year of experience; or Associates/Bachelors degree (preferred) with one (1) year of related experience preferred.
• Valid NY Drivers License required.
• Be flexible, patient, energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor.
• Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adults with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-on-one support to a student throughout the entire school day, ensuring safety, supervision, and participation in all educational and recreational activities.
• Assist with personal care needs, including toileting, hygiene, and other daily living activities as appropriate.
• Support learning by facilitating participation in individual and small-group instruction, providing prompts and reinforcement, and implementing behavior support plans.
• Maintain accurate data collection and documentation, uphold confidentiality and professionalism, and participate in required trainings and staff meetings.
• Also assist with classroom support tasks, special assignments, and other duties as needed while adhering to Devereux's philosophy of providing individualized, accountable, and positive behavioral supports.

Part-Time School-based Hours:

Monday - Friday 8:30a - 2:45pm

Salary:

• With HS Diploma/GED - $20 - $21.40 per hour
• With BA/BS - $21 - $22.47 per hour
• With MA/MS or higher - $22 - $23.54 per hour

As a 1:1 Classroom Aide

Physical Requirements

Pre-employment physical required. Significant and frequent amounts of walking, sitting, stooping, bending & standing required. Frequent planned, outside activities causing exposure to sunlight and heat. Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes. Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc. Good manual dexterity.
