Job summary

Devereux Education Services (DESS) is hiring an Instructional Assistant to support elementary students with autism in the Neshaminy School District. Earn $21 to $24.50 per hour based on education, experience and RBT certification, with a M-F schedule from 8:20am to 3:35pm during a 10-month period and potential summer extended-year opportunities.

Responsibilities include modeling positive behavior, assisting with IEP and PBSP implementation, and supporting student needs alongside school staff.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required.
• At least 1 year of experience in an educational setting preferred, especially with individuals with autism.
• Experience supporting students and implementing IEPs/PBSPs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain classroom policies and procedures while assisting students by modeling appropriate behavior and providing emotional support.
• Assist in the implementation of students’ IEPs and PBSPs as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with student personal needs, including medical needs in conjunction with health staff.
• Participate in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
• Understand team goals and contribute to team decisions and collaborate with others.

Schedule: M-F: 8:20am - 3:35pm: This position is aligned with the school calendar and is a full-time role covering a 10-month period and opportunites for extended school year program in summer break.

• Support and maintain classroom policies and procedures, while assisting students by modeling appropriate behavior, providing emotional support, and adopting a patient and friendly attitude.
• Assist in the implementation of students’ individualized education program (IEP) and positive behavior support plan (PBSP) as directed by the teacher.
• Assist with student personal needs, when required, including medical needs in conjunction with the school-based health or nursing staff.
• Participates in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
• Understand team goals and own role within the team. Support team decisions and cooperates with others within and outside the team.
• Utilize crisis physical intervention techniques under the direction of the teacher and as appropriate tothe setting and the degree of threat to the safety of the student and others.

DESS partners with child-serving institutions to provide services in early learning, behavioral and mental health treatment, academic interventions, and prevention programming. We also offer direct staff placement, diagnostic evaluations, and consultation services to school districts.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Associates degree required
• At least one year of experience in an educational setting working required. Experience with individuals with autism and/or other special education populations preferred .
