Job summary

Arrow Child & Family Ministries in Maryland seeks a dedicated One-to-One Aide to support a student in accordance with the IEP. You will assist the Teacher, supervise the identified student, and help maintain a safe, supportive learning environment.

This role involves implementing individualized instruction, recording progress, assisting with transportation as needed, and participating in team meetings to promote positive school culture and student outcomes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and at least one year of experience working with children and families, preferably in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe learning environment for students within school policies.
• Supervise and manage student behavior in the classroom and at school events.
• Provide a consistent and reliable supportive presence in the classroom.
• Escort assigned students to all activities as indicated on the IEP.
• Under teacher direction, provide individualized instruction and support to the student or small group.
• Use diverse teaching strategies to promote progress and independence.
• Create an environment tailored to each student's level of independence.
• Assist with completing attendance, progress, and behavioral data records.
• May assist with transportation to/from school and activities.
• May participate in community-based activities with students as relevant to instruction.
• Act as an active member of the Treatment Team and communicate information clearly.
• Contribute to developing and maintaining a positive school culture.
• Maintain safety and crisis-intervention readiness as required.
• Inform the Behavior Specialist and Teacher of relevant situations.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required.
• Share Arrow Child & Family Ministries mission with staff, students, and families.
• Review client files quarterly to assess service plan implementation and progress.
• Perform duties within contract, state, and federal regulations and policies.
• May drive a vehicle and complete company vehicle training.

Overview

The One-to-One Aide assists the Teacher in providing services specified in the IEP of assigned student; provides leadership and guidance to the student(s) in a supportive atmosphere. This employee supervises a specific, identified student, as indicated on the IEP; the job is dependent on the presence of that student on the school’s roster and the maintenance of that support being approved by the IEP Team.

Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

• Maintain a safe learning environment for students within the scope of the Arrow Center for Education School’s administrative policies and procedures.
• Supervise and manage student behavior in the classroom, school, and school-sponsored functions.
• Provide a consistent and reliable supportive presence in the classroom.
• Escort assigned students to all activities, as indicated by the IEP.
• Under the direction of the Teacher, provides individualized instruction and support to an assigned student or small group of students.
• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to promote progress and success with an assigned student or small group of students.
• Provide a learning environment that is individualized for students and works towards their personal level of independence.
• Assist the Teacher with completion of all necessary paperwork to accurately record student progress. This is to include daily attendance records, performance on current acquisition targets and maintenance skills, and behavioral data tracking.
• May be required to provide support to students in transport to and from school and other activities.
• May be required to participate in community-based activities alongside students, such as swimming, shopping, use of public transportation, and other activities as relevant to instruction.
• Participate as an active member of the Treatment Team. Communicates all appropriate information within and without the classroom orally and in writing.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of a positive school culture.
• Maintain proper rules, safety and security of students, providing crisis intervention when necessary.
• Inform the Behavior Specialist and Teacher of all relevant situations.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required.
• Share/transmit the mission and vision of Arrow Child & Family Ministries to staff and to student(s) and families served.
• Review client files on a quarterly basis to access service plan implementation, progress towards desired outcomes, and future appropriateness of service plan.
• Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, company policy, and regulatory agency standards.
• May be required to drive vehicles, be insurable with our auto insurance provider, and complete company vehicle training.
