Job summary

Arrow Child & Family Ministries is seeking a One-to-One Aide to assist the Teacher in delivering IEP-mandated services for an identified student. The role provides leadership and a supportive presence in the classroom and may include supervision during activities and transportation support as needed.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe learning environment, recording progress data, and using multiple teaching strategies to promote growth.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and at least one (1) year experience working with children and families, preferably in a school setting.

• Provide a consistent and reliable supportive presence in the classroom.
• Escort assigned students to activities per the IEP.
• Assist the Teacher with individualized instruction and support to an assigned student or small group.
• Utilize varied teaching strategies to promote progress and success.
• Create an environment individualized to students and target independence.
• Assist with necessary paperwork including attendance records and progress data.
• May transport students to school or activities.
• Participate in community activities with students as relevant to instruction.
• Communicate information between classroom and Treatment Team.

Overview

The One-to-One Aide assists the Teacher in providing services specified in the IEP of assigned student; provides leadership and guidance to the student(s) in a supportive atmosphere. This employee supervises a specific, identified student, as indicated on the IEP; the job is dependent on the presence of that student on the school’s roster and the maintenance of that support being approved by the IEP Team.

Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

• Maintain a safe learning environment for students within the scope of the Arrow Center for Education School’s administrative policies and procedures.
• Supervise and manage student behavior in the classroom, school, and school-sponsored functions.
• Provide a consistent and reliable supportive presence in the classroom.
• Escort assigned students to all activities, as indicated by the IEP.
• Under the direction of the Teacher, provides individualized instruction and support to an assigned student or small group of students.
• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to promote progress and success with an assigned student or small group of students.
• Provide a learning environment that is individualized for students and works towards their personal level of independence.
• Assist the Teacher with completion of all necessary paperwork to accurately record student progress. This is to include daily attendance records, performance on current acquisition targets and maintenance skills, and behavioral data tracking.
• May be required to provide support to students in transport to and from school and other activities.
• May be required to participate in community-based activities alongside students, such as swimming, shopping, use of public transportation, and other activities as relevant to instruction.
• Participate as an active member of the Treatment Team. Communicates all appropriate information within and without the classroom orally and in writing.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of a positive school culture.
• Maintain proper rules, safety and security of students, providing crisis intervention when necessary.
• Inform the Behavior Specialist and Teacher of all relevant situations.
• Attend trainings and meetings as required.
• Share/transmit the mission and vision of Arrow Child & Family Ministries to staff and to student(s) and families served.
• Review client files on a quarterly basis to access service plan implementation, progress towards desired outcomes, and future appropriateness of service plan.
• Perform all duties within contract, state and federal regulations, company policy, and regulatory agency standards.
• May be required to drive vehicles, be insurable with our auto insurance provider, and complete company vehicle training.
