Job summary

University of Houston System seeks an Audio-Visual support specialist to maintain and troubleshoot classroom technologies. This role will analyze equipment, interpret schematics, and lead student workers, while assisting with purchasing and deployment of new tech.

The position requires an Associate degree or technical certification and at least six months of related experience. All UH System positions are security sensitive and require a criminal history check.

Qualifications

  • Requires ability to analyze and interpret procedures, policies and practices in a technical field.
  • Associate degree or certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months and up to 3 years duration.
  • Minimum of six months of directly job-related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and repairs Audio-Visual equipment to ensure smooth operation and customer satisfaction.
  • Reads and interprets equipment schematic diagrams and CAD drawings.
  • Provides training and leadership to student workers.
  • Assists with purchasing and commissioning technology.
  • Loads code or firmware and supports testing and updating network devices.
  • Serves as the first responder for reported technical issues.
  • Maintains and modifies equipment as needed.
  • Understands incident tracking, opening, and closing tickets.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

Department:Technology Services & SupportSalary: $45,100

Description:

This position will provide Audio visual and classroom technologies support. Responsible for audio visual maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting. May function in a highly skilled technical capacity with minimal supervision.

1. Analyzes and repairs Audio-Visual equipment to ensure smooth operation and customer satisfaction.

2. Reads and interprets equipment schematic diagrams and other CAD drawings.

3. Provides training and leadership, primarily to student workers.

4. Assists with purchasing and commissioning technology.

5. Loads code or firmware and provides logistical support when testing and updating network devices.

6. Serves as the first responder for reported technical issues.

7. Responsible for regular maintenance and modification of equipment as needed.

8. Understands incident tracking, opening, and closing tickets.

9. Performs other job-related duties as required.

MQ: Education: Requires the ability and knowledge for analysis and interpretation of procedures, policies and practices attainable through specific education and/or training programs in a specialty or technical field. Advanced vocational or electronic skills or a basic knowledge of a professional field is required. An Associate's degree or certification/licensing in a technical specialty program of over 18 months and up to 3 years duration are characteristics of this field.

Experience: Requires a minimum of six (6) months of directly job-related experience. Cert/License: None.
