Job summary

Fremont Public Schools seeks an After School Program Activity Leader for Fremont After School Programs. The role focuses on supervision, safety, and delivering engaging activities for students in grades K‑4 or 5‑6 after school.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Graduate preferred, must be 18.
  • Certification/Licensure: None required.
  • Experience: Experience working with youth.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and lead expanded learning opportunities and activities for students in grades K‑4 or 5‑6; supervise, manage, and ensure safety of children.
  • Collaborate with Site Manager to develop engaging activities for an educational, social, and recreational after‑school program.
  • Follow district policies and grant requirements.
  • Develop and lead daily expanded learning opportunities.
  • Monitor students and engage them in program offerings.
  • Mentor youth and promote development.
  • Model positive discipline and behavior management.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Maintain clean, safe program spaces.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and families.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Essential Functions

The essential functions of each employee’s position includes (1) regular, dependable in‑person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities and to perform the identified work activities; and (3) the ability to perform the physical requirements on their specific job description.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and lead expanded learning opportunities and activities for students in grades K‑4 or 5‑6. Responsible for supervision, management, and safety of children. After‑school hours when school is in session and some full days when school is not in session.
  • Work closely with Site manager in the development and implementation of engaging and enriching activities for an educational, social, and recreational after‑school program.
  • Adheres to applicable District policies and regulations required by the grant.
  • Responsible for developing and leading daily expanded learning opportunities.
  • Monitors students and engages them in multiple program offerings.
  • Serves as a mentor, encourages youth achievement, and promotes youth development.
  • Implements and models positive discipline and behavior management.
  • Attends required staff meetings, training, and professional development as assigned.
  • Assures that program spaces are well maintained and left as found.
  • Communicates well with others and has sound decision making skills, versatility, initiative, high energy, and strong human relation skills.
  • Maintains communication with parents and families.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Physical Requirements

Standing, walking, sitting, bending/stooping, reaching/pulling/pushing, climbing, driving. Lifting: 50 pound maximum. Carrying: 1‑150 ft. Manual dexterity tasks: fingering 33‑66%; grasping 33‑66%. Ability to operate computer, manipulate keyboard, AV equipment, some office equipment such as a copy machine, telephone, etc.

Other Requirements (Intellectual, Sensory)

Skills in oral and written communication, and skills in human relations.

Working Conditions

Inside – Outside – Both: Both. Climatic Environment: Work environment is heated/air‑conditioned, however some facilities may not be air‑conditioned. When outdoors, whatever the weather conditions dictate. Hazards: Exposure to communicable diseases, building, furniture, equipment, playground equipment and some lifting.
