Job summary

• Minimum six (6) years of federal position classification experience.
• Experience performing classification support services of comparable scope.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong written and oral communication abilities.
• Ability to interpret government regulations, directives, and policies.
• Experience with federal position classification principles and OPM standards.
• Ability to obtain and maintain government suitability and system access.

Responsibilities

• Draft, revise, and classify position descriptions and evaluation statements.
• Conduct position classification analyses and job audits.
• Apply OPM standards and factor evaluation methodologies.
• Compare positions with existing classifications for consistency and equity.
• Prepare advisory classifications and supporting documentation.
• Perform job evaluations using the OPM Factor Evaluation System (FES).
• Upload and maintain documentation within agency classification systems.
• Coordinate reviews with subject matter experts and organizational officials.
• Support workforce planning and organizational position structure assessments.
• Ensure all products comply with OPM, DHS, and USCG requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Overview

The Classification Specialist provides expert position classification services supporting the development, review, evaluation, and classification of federal civilian positions. The position performs classification analyses, position description development, job evaluations, and related advisory services in accordance with OPM classification standards and federal workforce management requirements.

Note** This position is being recruited in support of potential future contract awards, and qualified candidates may be considered for upcoming opportunities supporting federal government clients.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience supporting DHS, USCG, DoD, or cabinet-level agencies.


• Expertise applying OPM Factor Evaluation System methodologies.


• Experience with supervisory, team leader, and wage-grade classification determinations.


• Experience preparing precedent-setting evaluation statements and classification packages.


• Existing DHS or federal suitability determination.
