Job summary

State of Maryland is seeking a Classification Analyst in Baltimore to interpret and apply SPMS rules and standards for classification and salary actions. The role includes learning to analyze agency reclassification requests and to prepare class specifications and descriptions.

Qualifications

  • One year of paraprofessional personnel work experience in the public sector.
  • Bachelor's degree or thirty graduate credits may substitute for the required experience.
  • A Juris Doctor degree may substitute for the required experience.
  • Certification in SPMS policies and Statewide Personnel System within six months from appointment and recertification every six months thereafter.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply the State Personnel Management System rules, regulations and standards related to classification and salary.
  • Learn to analyze and evaluate agency reclassification and acting capacity issues and requests.
  • Develop and revise class specifications and class descriptions; make technically sound recommendations.
