Job summary

Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) seeks a Classification Counselor 2 at Clallam Bay Corrections Center. The role focuses on determining custody designations for incarcerated individuals to balance safety with pathways to reintegration.

You will collaborate with community resources, professionals, and multidisciplinary teams to support transitions from incarceration to the community, while adhering to agency policies and public safety priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree is required.
• One year of social service or corrections experience.
• Or two years of college (60 semester or 90 quarter credits).
• Three years of experience in adult corrections, juvenile corrections, rehabilitation or social casework.
• Or one year as a Classification Counselor 1 in Washington State service with two years of college completed.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of adult criminal incarcerated individuals.
• Administer Risk Assessment Tools and document findings.
• Prepare and submit Offender Release Plans.
• Counsel incarcerated individuals regarding community resources and transitions.
• Coordinate with internal and external entities for re-entry support.
• Enforce court-ordered conditions and participate in Risk Management teams.
• Maintain communications and documentations across systems.
• Facilitate offender change programs when available.

Education

Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the CHEA
