The Class Size Teacher role supports the Joint Class Size Assessment Council by addressing oversized classrooms in Priority Schools and other affected sites.

Under the principal’s supervision, you will plan lessons, monitor student progress, maintain records, engage with families, and collaborate with colleagues to improve

Qualifications

• Complete student teaching requirements and coursework for Illinois teaching certificates.
• Hold a Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS).
• Strong knowledge of curriculum content and classroom management.
• Ability to adapt instruction to student needs and communicate with guardians.

Responsibilities

• Plan instruction with written lesson plans and prepare materials aligned to objectives.
• Apply effective teaching methods and update bulletin boards reflecting student work.
• Demonstrate knowledge of curriculum content for instructional levels.
• Promote attendance initiatives and anti-vandalism programs in schools.
• Establish fair classroom rules in line with CPS discipline code.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and seating charts.
• Encourage self-discipline and positive self-concept among students.
• Communicate with parents about progress, attendance, and conduct.
• Attend in-service and staff meetings; participate in field trips when needed.
• May contribute to after-school activities and community resource engagement.
