Job description

Reports to: Store Manager

Position Summary:

Upholds the Core Values as determined by the management team. Primary responsibility for all positions with W.D. Bryant is to Amaze Every Customer Every Time. You’ll work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment where you will make daily deliveries to commercial and residential customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Ability to safely load, unload, and move products in an efficient manner and in the customer's best interest.
2. Communicate with customers via phone to schedule deliveries and deliver the merchandise with care.
3. May use the Ace delivery smartphone application to facilitate the delivery process.
4. Perform daily pre- and post-trip safety inspections on all equipment and follow up with any deficits with the Store Manager.
5. Communicate with the store management as needed and follow instructions as required including but not limited to changes in route, special requests, and/or equipment problems.
6. Demonstrate excellent customer service to our customers and co-workers.
7. Maintain a clean working environment while keeping the vehicle free from debris.
8. Maintain knowledge of geography and demographics of assigned area as well as contact persons at each store location.
9. Adhere to gas credit card usage.
10. Operate a box van, pickup truck, or other assigned vehicle safely and courteously while observing all state and local driving laws as well as company policies and procedures.
11. Input or retrieve data from a personal computer as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Must have a Class B CDL license.
2. Must be trustworthy and possess a high level of integrity.
3. Ability to work additional or flexible hours including weekends as requested or required.
4. Must be able to persevere through tasks and challenges.
5. Possess good time management and problem-solving skills.
6. Must be Team and Customer Focused.
7. Must participate in safety seminars including annual driver safety training, etc.
8. Good verbal and written communication skills.
9. Ability to prioritize and multitask.
10. Basic computer knowledge skills are preferred.
11. Safely navigate driving conditions in adverse weather and navigate the assigned driving area in an efficient manner for package delivery.
12. Work independently as well as a team member.
13. Possess a valid in-state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record by the company’s insurance carrier’s standards.

Physical Requirement:

1. Frequently lift heavy items up to 70 pounds and use the “team lift” technique or hand truck/cart for greater weights.
2. Sit for extended periods and bend, twist, and squat to climb in and out of the truck.
