Job summary

Custom Goods LLC in Carson, CA seeks a Class A Yard Driver to move, spot, and shuttle trailers and containers within our facility and yard. You will operate a yard truck (spotter/hostler) with minimal supervision to support our growing operations.

This role emphasizes safety, adherence to DOT regulations, and teamwork; candidates must have a CDL, active medical card, and basic mechanical know-how.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL required with active Medical Card.
• Understanding of DOT regulations.
• Basic math for inventory/counting and measurements.

Responsibilities

• Move, spot, and shuttle trailers and containers within the facility yard.
• Operate yard truck (spotter/hostler) with direction from dispatch.
• Hook and drop trailers according to instructions and yard checks.
• Perform pre- and post-shift vehicle inspections.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and safe operation at all times.
• Ensure proper hitching and secure connections for trailers.
• Communicate with dispatch/warehouse via tablet or radio.
• Conduct yard checks and verify trailer/container numbers, seals, and locations.
• Report major maintenance or equipment issues to management.
• Stage trailers for loading/unloading as directed.
• Other duties as assigned.
