Job Details

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Company-Drivers are responsible for on-time delivery of freight between Dollar General Distribution Centers, stores, and vendors. They haul and unload multi-stop freight to Dollar General Stores, return freight and rolltainers as required, and operate vehicles safely for interstate and intrastate deliveries.

DUTIES and ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Transport store-delivery freight, store returns, and backhauls over-the-road safely and efficiently, adhering to all policies and regulations. (40%)
2. Unload and reload freight and rolltainers at each delivery safely and efficiently, including:
   1. Rolling rolltainers off trailers onto lift gates and placing them into the store backroom.
   2. Unloading boxes and totes and placing them in the store backroom.
   3. Reloading return rolltainers and products onto trailers for return to the Distribution Center.
   4. Safely securing all freight and rolltainers before sealing trailers.
3. Provide professional customer service to store teams, vendors, and distribution employees. (10%)
4. Complete necessary paperwork and maintain records as required by law. (10%)
5. Ensure vehicle operation complies with all laws and regulations. (10%)

Knowledge and Skills

• Availability for routine overnight travel and any day of the week.
• Physical ability to squat, crouch, reach, push, and pull freight, including handling rolltainers weighing up to 1,200 pounds.
• Ability to work in severe weather conditions and handle freight in extreme temperatures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL.
• At least six months of tractor/trailer driving experience.
• Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
• Ability to meet all safety and medical standards required by the DOT.
