Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America in Marquette, MI seeks an experienced truck driver to operate a straight truck, tractor-trailer, or double trailer, delivering products safely and on schedule. You will follow route plans, communicate with supervisors, and uphold DFA safety standards.

Candidates must hold a valid Class A CDL, meet DOT requirements, and have strong English communication, basic math for loading, and reliable record-keeping. DFA offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus, a 401K plan, and vacation time.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid Class A CDL; doubles endorsement may be required.
• Must meet DFA and DOT requirements for MVRS and safety.
• 2+ years of heavy vehicle driving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
• Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations (e.g., put deliveries inside coolers and walk-ins) in a safe and timely manner.
• Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns
• Load and unload product as required at designated stops; may include stocking and ordering
• Communicate effectively with customers and report problems to the supervisor or manager
• Maintain vehicle and equipment and keep a clean vehicle
• Complete daily paperwork and logs per company policy and DOT guidelines
• Attend driver workshops and training sessions
• Represent DFA professionally in interactions with customers

General Purpose

Operate a straight truck, tractor-trailer, or double trailer. Deliver products or assets in a safe and timely manner to customers, warehouses, distributors, etc., according to the delivery route schedule as determined by the supervisor. Demonstrate high standards of customer service. Communicate frequently with peers, supervisors, and others.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
• Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations (e.g., put deliveries inside coolers and walk-ins) in a safe and timely manner. Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel
• Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns
• Based on route design, load and unload product as required at designated stops (2-wheel cart and/or pallet jacket); may include stocking and ordering of product (varies from route to route)
• Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and report any problems to the driver supervisor or manager
• Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment used (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle
• Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each day. Maintain all log and trip records according to company policy and DOT guidelines
• Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure
• Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
• Use company supported applications or systems properly
• Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, or double trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
• Must meet minimum age requirements
• Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
• Must meet all DOT requirements
• Certification and/or License - valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license or operator's permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application
