Job summary

Dairy Farmers of America is seeking a Class A Route Driver in Georgia to operate straight trucks, tractors, or doubles and deliver products to customers, warehouses and distributors per the supervisor's route schedule. You will uphold high standards of customer service and communicate with peers and supervisors regularly.

Responsibilities include DOT-compliant driving, safe loading/unloading, daily logs, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid Class A CDL; doubles endorsement may be required; license for at least three years prior to application.
  • Two years or more experience driving tractor trailer/straight truck in last five years preferred.
  • Must meet DFA Motor Vehicle Records and all DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations and policies.
  • Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations.
  • Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents or breakdowns.
  • Load and unload product as required at stops; may stock or order product depending on route.
  • Communicate with customers and report problems to supervisor or manager.
  • Maintain vehicle and equipment, ensure cleanliness and perform basic maintenance.
  • Complete daily paperwork and maintain logs and trip records per policy and DOT guidelines.
  • Perform load inventory and document freight condition before departure.
  • Attend driver workshops and training sessions; use company systems properly.
  • Represent DFA positively in all customer interactions.

Description

Operate a straight truck, tractor-trailer, or double trailer. Deliver productsor assets in a safe and timely manner to customers, warehouses, distributors, etc., according to the delivery route schedule as determined by the supervisor. Demonstrate high standards of customer service. Communicate frequently with peers, supervisors, and others.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • * Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules,regulations and policies adhering to all safety practices
  • * Deliver products or assets according to route schedule and customer deliveryexpectations (e.g., put deliveries inside coolers and walk-ins) in a safe andtimely manner. Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwisedirected by supervisory personnel
  • * Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents orbreakdowns
  • * Based on route design, load and unload product as required at designatedstops (2-wheel cart and/or pallet jacket); may include stocking and orderingof product (varies from route to route)
  • * Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers and reportany problems to the driver supervisor or manager
  • * Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipmentused (tires, fuel, oil check, etc.) and maintain a clean vehicle
  • * Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each day. Maintain all logand trip records according to company policy and DOT guidelines
  • * Perform load inventory and document condition of freight before departure
  • * Attend all driver workshops and training sessions
  • * Use company supported applications or systems properly
  • * Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactionswith customers or other individuals

Qualifications
  • * High School Diploma or equivalent
  • * 2 or more years of experience driving a tractor trailer, straight truck, ordoubles trailer, within the last 5 years preferred
  • * Must meet minimum age requirements
  • * Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records
  • * Must meet all DOT requirements
  • * Certification and/or License – valid Class A CDL; some drivers may be required to have a doubles endorsement; license or operator’s permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application

  • * Knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements
  • * Skill in proficient computer usage
  • * Skill with math for calculating load size and recording accuratevolume/weight measurements
  • * Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • * Able to be proactive in seeking solutions and taking appropriate steps tosolve problems
  • * Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
