Job summary

Academy Bus is seeking experienced Class A and Class B Diesel Bus Mechanics for our Baltimore, MD location. The role requires 7+ years of diesel engine maintenance, and familiarity with Van Hool, Temsa, Prevost buses, Cummins and Detroit engines.

Candidates should have experience with electrical and engine diagnostics, own tools, and a valid driver’s license. CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement is a plus but not required. Pay ranges from $29.00 to $44.00 per hour based on experience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of diesel engine maintenance.
• Experience with Van Hool, Temsa, and Prevost buses.
• Familiar with Cummins and Detroit engines.
• Own tools and valid driver's license.
• CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Repair, troubleshooting and diagnosis of modern tour buses.
• Reconditioning, preventative and routine maintenance.
• Inspections and road tests.
• Warranty and repair documentation.
• Diagnosis, inspection, installation, disassembly and cleaning of components such as brakes, suspension, tires, bearings, seals, radiators, water pumps, coolant hoses, alternators, regulators, steering components, oil/air filters, door assemblies, controls, seats, belts, electric motors, pneumatic valves, cables, and linkages.
• Respond to road calls.
• Basic welding/fabrication.
• Class A/B Mechanics will train and supervise junior mechanics.

Must have experience working on Van Hool, Temsa, and Prevost Buses. Must be familiar with Cummins and Detroit engines.

Must have experience troubleshooting issues with Electrical & Engine diagnostics on Buses with a laptop, i.e. Detroit, Allison, Cummins. Must have own tools.

Pay rate is $29.00-$44.00 per hour, based on candidate experience level.

• (A) Proficient in the use of diagnostic devices such as: DDEC readers, ATEC readers, SmarTire, schematics, AIC (Freon) recovery and charging equipment
• Proven ability to use hands tools, power tools, hydraulic jacks, welding equipment,and testing instruments
• Must have own tools according to level
• Valid driver's license
• Basic computer skills
• CDL License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement is a plus but not required, willingness to obtain a CDL License is also desirable.
