Job summary

Coach USA in Hanover, MD is hiring Diesel Mechanics for full-time positions on 2nd or 3rd shifts. Starting pay varies by class: Mechanic C at $59,000 and Mechanic A/B from $65,000 to $85,000, with benefits and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and related systems on heavy trucks and buses, performing preventative maintenance, maintaining logs, and ensuring safety and reliability of our fleet.

Qualifications

• Formal technical training degree, certificate or diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, walk and sit with lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Experience counts: motor coach industry or diesel experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and other breakdowns and perform necessary repairs.
• Conduct preventative maintenance according to manufacturers' specs to ensure vehicle reliability.
• Write detailed inspection reports and repair plans; maintain electronic maintenance logs.
• Adhere to workplace safety policies and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Possess problem-solving skills and willingness to work weekends/holidays as needed.

Required Experience:

• Class A: Master Mechanic with 5 years’ experience on trucks, buses, or heavy equipment
• Class B: Mid-Level with 3 years’ experience on trucks, buses, or heavy equipment
• Class C: Low Level with at least 1 year of experience on trucks, buses, or heavy equipment

Minimum Requirements:

• Formal technical training degree, certificate or diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, walk and sit on a regular basis with frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Certification
• Experience Counts: Have the necessary toolkit to carry out maintenance duties independently. Experience in the Motor Coach Industry or Diesel experience preferred.
• CDL preferred
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Diagnose and Repair: Utilize diagnostic tools to identify issues with mechanical, electrical, and other breakdowns and failures, performing necessary repairs.
• Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine and preventative maintenance according to manufacturers' specifications to ensure vehicle reliability and longevity.
• Quality Assurance: Uphold our commitment to excellence by ensuring all repairs and maintenance work meets or exceeds industry standards. Complete test drives to make sure all repaired vehicles run correctly and safely.
• Detail Oriented: Write detailed inspection reports and repair plans. Maintain electronic maintenance logs.
• Safety and Cleanliness: Adhere to all workplace safety policies and procedures, while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
• Problem Solvers: You are adept at troubleshooting and enjoy the challenge of finding and implementing solutions to mechanical issues. Computer diagnostic skills a plus, but training is provided.
• Team Players: Ability to work in all weather conditions, including outdoors. Willingness to work weekends and holidays, as needed.
