Qualifications

• 5 years’ experience repairing heavy trucks or heavy buses
• Proficient in air brakes, air systems, A/C, chassis, gas and diesel engines
• Knowledge of electrical system troubleshooting
• Experience with diagnostic computer equipment
• Must pass pre-employment DOT physical and drug/alcohol test
• Read/write and follow policies including EPA/OSHA guidelines
• Must furnish hand tools under 1"; CTA supplies tools over 1"
• Clean driving record; able to obtain MS CDL Class B with P endorsement

Job description

Responsibilities include performing all types of maintenance and repair on light, medium, and heavy-duty buses and support vehicles. Must be able to perform thorough inspections of fleet vehicles and document all inspections. Must have the ability to use diagnostic equipment, road test vehicles, and make road calls. Maintenance, repairs, and inspections on all CTA equipment is in accordance with local, county, state and federal laws as well as company policies. This is an advanced position that requires strong independent judgment and is only routinely supervised.

Requirements

Sustained physical endurance to lift up to 75 lbs., continuously stand, work with arms extended overhead, climb, and squat, as well as the ability to work in a fast-moving automotive maintenance garage.

DOT Physical Examination and Functional Capacity Exam required (paid by CTA).

Qualifications

• Class A Mechanic: Five (5) years’ experience of mechanical repair on Heavy Trucks or Heavy Buses required.
• Must be proficient in the repair of air brakes, air systems, air conditioning systems, chassis, and gas and diesel engine repair.
• Must have knowledge of trouble shooting electrical systems.
• Must have knowledge and prior use of diagnostic computer equipment.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment DOT Physical Examination and pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test.
• Must have ability to read, write, and follow directions and instructions, department policies, as well as EPA and OSHA guidelines.
• The position requires the employee to furnish all needed hand tools under 1\". CTA provides all tools over 1\".
• Must have verifiable work references.
• Requires a clean driving record and the ability to obtain a MS Commercial License Class \"B\" with a \"P\" (passenger) endorsement.
