Candidates must pass a 2G plate weld test with X-ray inspection and bend test, and be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work from various positions.
Fuses (welds) metal structural components together by means of welding using stick, MIG, and fluxcore equipment. In addition to performing hand welding, the welder may also layout guidelines or marks on metal parts and may cut metal with a hand-held cutting torch.
Performs welding operations requiring most of the following: planning and layout work from blueprints and drawings of other specifications; requires a knowledge of welding properties of a variety of metals; setting up work and determining operation sequences; welding objects involving critical safety and load requirements; working from a variety of positions. Must have working knowledge of welding symbols and procedures. This person must be able to maintain a high level of production and quality as determined by the supervisor.
