Welder A - Fitter - Must-Have Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of welding experience
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
- Ability to pass required welding tests
- Familiarity with AWS D1.1 welding standards
- Experience setting up and operating welding equipment
- Ability to inspect welds for quality and defects
- Experience using grinders and other welding-related tools
- Ability to safely operate manlifts and cranes

Welder A - Fitter - Position Summary
The Welder A - Fitter performs welding and fit-up work to produce quality welds that meet customer specifications and industry standards. This position requires the ability to read blueprints, select appropriate welding processes, set up welding equipment, fit and position materials, and inspect completed welds. The ideal candidate is an experienced welder who takes pride in quality workmanship, works safely, and can work effectively both independently and as part of a production team.
Welder A - Fitter - Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding specifications
- Set up and operate welding machines and related equipment
- Adjust amperage, voltage, slope, pulse, and other settings as required
- Inspect welding machines, cables, and equipment before use
- Determine appropriate welding processes, positions, and fixtures based on job requirements
- Fit, position, and weld materials according to specifications
- Maintain proper arc length, travel speed, and weld technique
- Monitor weld puddle, bead appearance, and fusion during welding
- Select efficient welding methods based on material and job requirements
- Inspect completed welds for proper bead size, cracks, defects, and overall quality
- Repair welds when necessary
- Grind and clean welds, slag, and spatter
- Clean, grind, and degrease parts before and after welding
- Safely operate manlifts and cranes for material handling and positioning
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Communicate welding or production issues to supervisors
- Perform other duties as assigned
Welder A - Fitter - Additional Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience with structural or industrial welding preferred
- AWS D1.1 knowledge and experience
- Strong hand-eye coordination
- Good mechanical aptitude
- Ability to troubleshoot welding and fit-up issues
- Ability to work from written instructions and take direction
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
