Job summary

Maersk is seeking a Class A CDL Driver in the St. Louis area to safely transport freight, complete inspections, and maintain accurate records.

The role requires operating tractor-trailers, loading and unloading as needed, and delivering to customers and distribution centers. The position offers pay starting at $28.00 per hour with biweekly pay, a shift starting at 1pm until route completion, and benefits including health and dental insurance and paid time off.

Qualifications

  • Valid CDL Class A license with acceptable driving record.
  • Current DOT medical certificate.
  • LTL/City driving experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and hours-of-service requirements.
  • English proficiency: speak/read/write.
  • Ability to work overtime and flexible schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class A tractors and trailers to transport freight.
  • Deliver freight according to routes, schedules, and customer requirements.
  • Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections.
  • Load, secure, inspect, and protect cargo during transit.
  • Maintain logs, bills of lading, and other required records.
  • Communicate with dispatch regarding routes, delays, and vehicle issues.
  • Report accidents, cargo damage, or unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Assist with loading/unloading freight as needed.

The driver operates commercial motor vehicles, completes required inspections, secures cargo, maintains accurate records, and provides professional customer service.Pay: From $28.00 per hour Biweekly*The above stated pay is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.Shift- 1pm till Route CompletionKey ResponsibilitiesSafely operate Class A commercial motor vehicles , including tractor-trailers.Transport and deliver freight according to assigned routes, schedules, and customer requirements.Perform required pre-trip, e n route, and post-trip vehicle inspections.Properly load, secure, inspect, and protect cargo during transit.Follow all applicable DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, traffic laws, company policies, and customer-site rules.Maintain accurate electronic or written logs, delivery documents, bills of lading, inspection reports, and other required records.Communicate with dispatch regarding routes, delays, deliveries, vehicle issues, and changes in operating conditions.Safely maneuver vehicles at loading docks, yards, parking areas, and customer locations.Promptly report accidents, traffic violations, mechanical problems, cargo damage, and unsafe conditions.Maintain a clean and professional vehicle, work area, and appearance.Provide courteous and professional service to customers and operational partners.Assist with loading and unloading freight when required.Qualifications & SkillsValid CDL Class A license and acceptable driving record required.Current DOT medical certification required.LTL/City driving experience preferred.Knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service requirements, and transportation compliance standards.Ability to safely operate tractor-trailers and commercial motor vehicles in varied driving and weather conditions.Ability to accurately complete logs, bills of lading, inspection reports, and transportation records.Strong customer service, communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to safety, cargo security, and regulatory compliance.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision.Ability to work overtime, extended hours, and flexible schedules when required.Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.Must have Medical DOT CardPhysical RequirementsThis position requires frequent entering and exiting of commercial vehicles, standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Employees must be able to perform required vehicle and cargo inspections, secure loads, and lift and move products weighing up to 75 lbs. when required.Safety ExpectationsEmployees are expected to comply with all company safety policies, applicable DOT requirements, OSHA standards, TSA requirements where applicable, and customer-site safety rules.
